HOW IT STARTED
Frustrated by how my dog was behaving, there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. I researched, tried the popular methods to no avail.
I quit my job, and started to train my dog myself. I got to see with my own eyes what worked and what didn’t. In this process, an idea was born. I wanted to help people who were also frustrated with their dogs.
I got to see relationships between dog and owner flourish. I got to witness people’s eyes light up when their dog laid down for the first time, or nailed coming back when called. I didn’t want to do anything else, so I committed and went to school in May to learn from the best: Michael Ellis.
I got so much from that course and tweaked my training to be even better. I can confidently say the owner and dog have a blast during our training sessions, so it doesn’t really feel like training at all.

We love helping dog owners reach their full potential. From assisting with recall, leash work, and puppy training we try our best to ensure we maximize training opportunities.
We proof behaviours in different locations, under different distractions and pressures so you can be confident your dog will listen to you no matter the distraction. With consistency and patience on both ends we can work towards you having a dog that you’ve always dreamed of having.

Where is Nurtured Canine Located?
Nurtured Canine is located in St. Albert. We service Edmonton, and the Okanagan Valley as well!
Do I come to you?
One of the great things about my training is that I come directly to you! I meet you at your choice of location (your house, field, etc)
How do I book a session with you?
Send an email and then we can schedule an in person consultation so we can pick the program best suited for you and your pup.
How do I pay?
Prepay in person or an invoice through square. Payment needs to be completed before time of booking.
Are you Certified?
Yes, I am! I’m certified by the IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals)
Have you gone to school?
Yup! I attended the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in Santa Rosa, California in May, 2018, and attended Primal Canine’s shadow program in October, 2019.
Are you Insured?
Yes, I am! I’m insured through ProFUR pet insurance.
Do you have a dog?
Yes! I have a golden retriever named Kevin.

Hello! I’m Melissa; a very passionate dog trainer who resides in Edmonton, servicing the St. Albert and surrounding area. I love helping clients reach their full potential with their pup, no matter how overwhelming the problem may be. There’s no better feeling than enjoying your dog and bringing it places with you and having the confidence they’ll listen. It’s a fulfilling experience because that bond is something only you and your dog can have. I work with dogs and clients everyday and have seen it all! (Yup, really, all of it)
I’m very confident I can help you reach your goals to have a dog that’s obedient inside and out. (With you having the consistency and patience of course, they’re not robots!)
